  Save A Pet  rescues animals from the county pound and places them into foster homes until a more suitable permanent home is located.  Save A Pet is a 501(c)(3) corporation and is not funded by federal, state or local funds.  All donations are tax deductible and are spent on the care and up keep of pets.

For $10 you get membership for a year   See us at PetsMart every other Saturday or contact us at 478-994-3882.  And of course, with your membership another pet has a chance at life!

• In 6 years, 1 dog & her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies

• In 6 years, 1 cat & her kittens can produce 420,000 kittens

• Unwanted puppies often starve to death, are put to sleep, or are run
  over by a car

• Since Save A Pet began in 1998, over 634 dogs & puppies have been adopted

• You can volunteer to help - call 478-994-3882 and ask for Pat

Transportation Needed

We are always in need of volunteers to provide transportation for the dogs to PetsMart and to deliver our newly adopted pets to their new homes.  This is the only way that we can be assured that each pet is getting a good home. 

We now have a great place for the dogs and we need dog walkers/runners.  This is
also a great opportunity for you to get in shape.  Please help us to spread the word! Each volunteer will need to sign an indemnification agreement. Contact Save a Pet if you are interested
 

• Examine your pet often to check for signs of illness - gums, teeth, eyes, gait,  weight,  bad breath

• The earlier illness is treated, the better the chance for a good outcome

• Neuter or Spay your pet to prevent unwanted animals

• Never leave an animal alone in a hot car during the summer

• Provide plenty of shelter and water for pets outside during the summer

• Sub-nosed dogs are more sensitive to heat:  Bulldogs, Boston terriers, etc. - 
  as are old, overweight or ill dogs

Each foster home is critical.  We can only take dogs from the pound if we have room for them in a foster home.  When we make an adoption, we can then take another dog from the pound and place it into a foster home.  That is how it works.  When we don't have room, many adoptable dogs are put to sleep for lack of room. If you can be a foster home, Save A Pet will furnish the kennels, dog houses, food, heartworm pills and Frontline for the dogs.  All you furnish is your time and love.
